These "tech news" newsletters all tend to provide news capsules with links back to the main site where you can peruse full length articles. This is an excellent way to continuously drive traffic to your Web site without giving away the whole bag-o-beans.

1) Wired News

One of my personal faves. Wired News comes out 5 days a week and capsulizes 5-20 of the days top tech, communication and culture related stories. Wired News breaks its headlines into tech, business, culture and politics and provides a healthy dose of all four in each issue; more general news can be had in abundance once you visit the site. This is the essential news source for the on-line community.

In addition to the standard Wired News you can also subscribe to a twice daily US market capsule and tech stock view. As a further bonus Wired Digital members can establish stock portfolios on-line and track their securities value.

• Cocktail - Excellent! A new cocktail recipe and its detailed history delivered weekly.
• Rough Guides - Quick info and updates on Rough Guide, Wired's hip on-line travel guide (Rough Guide's great review of my favorite Pub, the Ship and Anchor.)
• Web Monkey - I use this one regularly. An excellent informational, tutorial and example resource for Web development professionals.
• Synapse - Very well done. Views, news and the latest connections on technology and culture.

2) Jesse Berst's AnchorDesk

Part of ZDNet, Jesse Berst's Anchordesk is the e-mail tech equivalent of the Geraldo Rivera Show: inflammatory and sensational, but mostly informative. This daily newsletter provides one major news capsule, several top news item headlines and various product and download blurbs. Each major section links back to the Anchordesk site for news and reviews and links to other ZDNet info. It's easy to find decent and very timely information in this mailer if you know where to look.

3) Internet World Weekly Digest

Every week Internet World drops into your mailbox with 30+ headlines and news items capsulized for easy digestion. This is the e-mail version of the weekly paper pub Internet World that seems to show up amazingly late: I just received the July 27th issue. Hence the e-mail version with links back to the site is a much better option. Content sections include: Industry, E-commerce, Web Development, Infrastructure, IW Lab Reviews and Opinion. This mailer tends to be a good cross between Berst's low brow and tech tidbits focus and Wired News' high brow culture tech theme.

• Web Developer - Once upon a time an excellent print publication, Web Developer provides developer news, tutorials, tips and opinion delivered weekly.
• JavaScript Newsletter - A newsletter I've used a few times. It provides Javascript examples and tips a couple times every month.
• Internet Shopper - All the best Net shopping bits delivered daily. Just think you can watch the Home Shopping Network and shop on the Net at the same time.
• Search Engine Watch - Obsessed with all things "search engine"? Get the latest news, innovations and tips related to the Net's most popular sites.
• Finance Tips by Steve Harmon - Covers Net based investing, including site, service and rate reviews.
