This week back to tech type stuff. I've got a phenomenal newsletter to review from The Industry Standard crew called Media Grok and another couple short blurbettes (yes, really, even shorter than a blurb) on some other recent interesting ones I've found.

Media Grok provides daily tech/media news story reports. Sound pretty simple, fairly generic, not outta the ordinary? Well we (they?) fooled you, didn't we? Every week day you get set of news items with mid-length commentary/analysis. Not just blurbs or headlines with links back to the site for more info (though they provide that). Actual articles. And on top of it all not only do they link back to their site for further info, but they track down articles on the same event//topic and link to other reputable news sites like Wired News, ZDNet, news.com and WSJ On-line. But wait! There's more! Each issue also provide quick links to other current topics and news items. Pretty good stuff.

Writing Quality/Style - 5
As good as you'll see from any good news source. Clean, concise, easy to read but not dumbed down, witty at times and sleek.

Regularity - 5
Very regular. Every school day morning around 10:00 (+/- a few minutes)

Extras - 5
Packed fulla goodies here. All the standard e-mail newsletter bits are here (see issue #5). On top of that the excellent external links alone make this newsletter worth the admission price. But wait! There's more! If you visit The Industry Standard subscription page you'll see another set of 4 newsletter/mailing lists available: New Gig (tech and internet recruitment info), Intelligencer (weekly detailed report on one news item), Internet Architect Spotlight (weekly who's who on the Net) and News Alert ("as it happens" news reports). All are as well presented as Media Grok.

I guess I gushed above, but I'm always impressed when I can get mid-length articles delivered directly to my mail-box. Media Grok is well worth it if you're interested in tracking the lasted big tech news bits. Well written, timely, prompt, and interesting.
