Back in the work grind. I'm half unpacked from the office move and sitting in a cozy little office with ducts a la Brazil and a very bright directional fluorescent track light shining down on the still taped boxes, wondering where the hell I'm gonna put 5 years of hoarded books, papers, broken mice and old CD-ROMs...

Anyway, this week I'm going to review Family Daze a monthly column from Debbie Farmer, with a quicky at the end as per usual. And if I haven't said so lately, thanks much for the mail and suggestions that you send in.

Content - 5
Each monthly mailer contains one column from Debbie Farmer a famous columnist (though I don't have a list of which newspapers carry her column). The columns consist of short anecdotal and interesting stories, each with a dose of wry humour, a warm touch and a bit of lesson. The stories are told from a mother's (Debbie's) perspective and detail the small things your kids do that make you sit back and chuckle or smile or want to hug them.

Writing Quality/Style - 5
Well, what to say here. Debbie is a columnist, who writes quite well, with an eye for wit and the ability to pull a heart string or two without going anywhere near overboard. Easy and flowing, you forget you're reading until you're done the story.

Regularity - 5
Every month! Really! Right near the beginning...

Extras - 4
Each mailer has contact, good copyright and site info listed. The site, with is friendly and easy to use and Debbie seems ready to answer all questions. The only thing I thought missing here was a lack of explicit unsubscribe instructions in the e-mail or on the site, something that would probably save both her and her subscribers some time.

Overall - 5
This is a pretty interesting little column. I don't think that Debbie Farmer is out to change the world or teach lessons, just remind her readers of a few things once and a while. Never overly long and it doesn't come overly often. Mmmm... this one is too soft, this one is too hard, but this one is just right...
