Europe - Trip 1

Day 10 - January 17, 2002

We had leave this comfortable lifestyle and head across the country to Darlington to catch a junior highschool netball match. We packed up, loaded up the car and took a quick detour to Penrith at the top of the Lake District. It was only 12:30 but Todd felt that calling someone at home and letting them know that they were in Penrith, being careful to say the name twice, the second time shouting it, was very appropriate. Everyone would be asleep so Todd settled for his sister (Shelley) even though she wouldn't know the significance of the location.

A quick uninteruppted drive to and through Darlington to Teesside where Sarah teaches, we met a couple of people and promptly got on a busload of 9-11 year-old girls and headed up to Durham for the netball match. The games were exciting and Teesside lost the first and won the second game, though everyone played very well. Back on the bus we headed back to the school and followed Sarah back to her place.

After a quick dinner in the vibrant centre of Darlington we headed home to Sarah's place (a nice 2 bedroom semi with a big dining room and solarium), watched ER and then went to bed in the room with the glow-in-the-dark stars, moons and meteors on the ceiling.
