Europe - Trip 3Day 2 - January 26, 2002
Catching up on sleep this morning was a priority for Sue and Todd. We slept until noon. Well first we felt the need to get up at the time we ordered the B&B breakfast and actually eat it before we went back to bed - a very sumo kind of thing to do (they nap after most of their meals).
We wandered down to the train station and caught the train out to Cobh (pron. Cove) near Cork and spent the day wandering around this idyllic seaside town – the last stop of the Titanic before it slept with the fishes. Stopped at one very local little pub and enjoyed a couple with them before we wandered again. Checked out the fabulous cathedral that dominated the hill in this place of ~15,000 - The cathedral would have done a city of a million proud. Then caught the train home and got pizza for dinner in a dumpy little place in Cork. Did you know that Cobh used to be called Queenstown before the Irish got rid of that English monkey on their back? |
