The night bus to Hoi An from Nha Trang was a little lumpy and strange, but got us there in a reasonable amount of time for little cost. Hoi An is a nice quiet coastal town right beside the famous China Beach that is well know for a few sites and their interesting tailoring and cloth trade.

We really enjoyed our stay here and probably would have got some clothes made if we'd've had the time. China Beach was pretty amazing though the heat made that stop last about 15 minutes - noone was on the beach or in the water. Everyone including the hawkers wouldn't leave the shade of the coconut trees.

Sights

If it wouldn't have been so darn heat stroke inducing here we would've seen a few more things but as it was, we got to the beach, around the town and up to My Son temple. One nice thing for Todd was the availability of a blonde ale much like a French of Belgian, called Son Han.

My Son
Comments: Well worth the trip up here even though it takes a couple of hours. We rented a driver from Emma a local tailor and personality. The site itself was stunning, up in the mountains well away from the coast nestled in a beautiful valley. The structures here had been greatly damaged by US bombing during the war and did not look at all like they did in pictures from the 1930s. Well worth the ride and price of admission.
Cost: VND 50K
Worth it?: well worth it

Japanese Bridge
Comments: Seemingly the site to see in the town itself, this bridge is not that old but seems to create a bit of gravity with tourists and locals alike.
Cost: nada
Worth it?: sure

China Beach
Comments: A couple people we talked to didn't seem to think much of it but this was a gorgeous stretch of beach.
Cost: nada
Worth it?: sure

Da Nang Pass
Comments: Helluva view from up here of Da Nang and the nearby coast - stopped for a few minutes on the day bus outta Hoi An. There's also war bunker and an older customs/toll gate at the top of the pass.
Cost: included in the trip
Worth it?: yes

Lang Co Beach
Comments: Another stop on the Hoi An to Hue bus trip. This stretch of beach was fabulous, quiet and down one end hosted about 30 small local fishing boats. Kinda wish we'd've hung around here for a day or two.
Cost: included in the trip
Worth it?: wow!

Meals

Ate at a couple of places, but one really stood out as a comfortable place.
Hai's Scout Cafe - 98 Nguyen Thai Hoc St.
Comments: Excellent variety of food on the menu and some of the best soup we'd had for days. So good in fact that we hit the same place again for dinner.
Cost: VND 50K for a coupla beers each with lunch

Accomodation

Pho Hoi
Comments: Unremarkable and kinda annoying.
Cost: US$10/night
